WHAT IS RELFYDESS®?
Relfydess® (relabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription-only anti-wrinkle medicine made by Galderma, the Swiss dermatology company. It was approved by the UK medicines regulator, the MHRA, and became available in UK clinics in 2025
HOW IT WORKS
Like other anti-wrinkle treatments, it blocks the nerve signals that tell specific facial muscles to contract. The treated muscle relaxes for a period of time, which softens the lines that form when you frown or smile. Normal muscle activity gradually returns as the nerve endings recover.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Fast onset in trials. The typical time to first effect was 2 to 3 days, and some patients saw a change from day 1.
Longer duration in trials. Effects were measured for 6 months after a single treatment.
THE RESEARCH BEHIND IT
Relfydess® was tested in Galderma’s phase III READY clinical trial programme. Three placebo-controlled trials involved 1,012 adults, and a further long-term safety study followed 902 people treated with it.
Frown lines: one month after treatment, 96% of patients had a visible improvement, compared with 5% on placebo.
Crow’s feet: one month after treatment, 87% had a visible improvement, compared with 12% on placebo.
Speed: up to 39% of patients treated for frown lines, and 34% treated for crow’s feet, responded within 1 day.
Duration: at 6 months, up to 75% of patients had not returned to how their lines looked before treatment. About 1 in 4 still had the full month-one improvement.

How is Relfydess® different from your standard anti-wrinkle treatment?
Both relax the muscles that cause expression lines. Relfydess® comes as a ready-to-use liquid and, in clinical trials, started working sooner and was measured lasting up to 6 months. How long will my results last?
It varies from person to person. In trials, most patients had not fully returned to their original lines at 6 months, but only about 1 in 4 still had their full result at that point. Many people will want a top-up before 6 months.
Why does it cost more?
The product itself costs the clinic more, and you may need fewer appointments over the year.
Why do men sometimes need more units?
Men’s facial muscles are often larger and stronger, so a higher dose may be needed for the same effect. The doctor assesses this at your consultation and tells you the price before treating.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel a slight pinch at each injection point. Some people find this product stings slightly more than standard treatments. The treatment itself takes around 10–15 minutes.
